DIY: rice crispy treats

01Sep09

Here’s another first! I’ve been wanting for this sweet treat for the longest time. And as far as I can remember, I even bought some trailmix bars just to satisfy the craving, but failed. Rice crispy treats reminds me of my childhood, and how my aunt use to make them when my cousin Sher and her family visits us.

Last monday, at long last I was able to make them, with the help of the bf! And here I am sharing to you my first experience making them with photos of course!

Oh before I forgot, here’s the ingredients I used for those who want to know:

  • 10 oz or 1.25 cup of marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 4 cups of rice crispies
1. Cut mallows into small pieces if needed.

Step 2: Melt butter into pan

Step 2: Melt butter into pan.

Step 3: Add mallows into the melted butter, continously stir until mallows are melted and mixed

Step 3: Add mallows into the melted butter, continuously stir until mallows are melted into a liquid consistency.

Step 4 & 5: Remove wet mixture from heat. Mix together rice crispies with the wet mixture. Pour the mixture into a baking pan

Step 6: Let it cool, cut into squares then serve

Some Tips:

  • Use 1/2 cup of butter instead of 1/4 this makes it less sticky and easy to mix
  • Ask the bf to help you out, its a fun activity to bond. And makes cooking easier. Ask him to wash the dishes after. lmao.
  • Share it with everyone! I made a whole pan last night, left half of it at home, and its gone by now! a sure hit!
  • and last but not the least…
Let the kids enjoy the leftover mashmallows! (ok even adults can join the fun too!)

There are no hard rules on making this treats.  You can adjust the ingredients according to your liking. Don’t be afraid to try. It’s easy and most of all,  fun to make!
