Birth of a dream

My November is becoming to be an “artistically driven” month. I remember on my previous post that it is supposed to be a “Christmas preparation” month, but on top of that I managed to entertain my creative soul.

It all started when I was Amazon shopping. Upon checkout, I came to realize that almost half of my shopping bag contains stuff that feeds my creative soul, two inspirational books for artists, a pen tablet, and a camera accessory.

And with a blink of an eye, I said to myself, I have to listen to the call, chase my dream and do it now. No other time, the best time is NOW.  And before I knew it, everything seems to fit, with or without my effort.

And because I am grateful about it, I’m listing them down for my account, and when I look back 5-10 years from now, this is how it all started…

  • Having my own pen tablet — is like opening myself to a new world of digital imaging. Easier selective edits on Photoshop plus digital drawing, in which I know I have to enhance my skills.
  • Creative Call by Janice Elsheimer — This book tells it all. Helps people unleash the suppressed artist within.  I’m almost halfway through the book and with every word it says, I had to admit, it hits the spot and send shivers to my spine. Quoting from the book and few of my current favorites
  1. If I can dream it, I can do it
  2. It’s never too late to resurrect my gifts and talents, so why wait?
  3. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding – Proverbs 3:5
  • Digital Arts School — I’ve always wanted to go back to school and study digital arts.  I’ve placed my one foot forward and  inquired at the art school I plan to study. Tuition fee is quite steep but I realized it all falls down to self-investment.  I plan to enroll January 2011. Can’t wait!
  • Ms. President — Surprisingly, just the other day, I was appointed as the president of our office’s photography club.  Initially I was hesitant, afraid to not meet everyone’s expectations, but the board assured that they will be there to support.  I also realized it is an opportunity, at the same time a challenge, so why not give it a try. So  soon enough I said yes. I am now the official “image” of our club! (The last sentence is intended as an inside joke)

Things are going so fast,  I imagine myself working on an Advertising agency or a graphics firm soon. Yes, I’m claiming it now, this early. And I can’t wait for it to happen!

Ps. A lot of creative inspirations have been thrown on me randomly, either web, books, etc.  And since it’s been helping me get through lately, I would like to also share them with you:

No one is going to hold me accountable for my dreams except me, so I’d better start being a better taskmaster.

Number 3: To neglect to make a small change because you think a big change is necessary

Number 4: To refuse to consider a big change because you assume you can only make a small change
